Edit a Blender scene for knurled posts and PCB fit

A quoted prompt asks Astra to edit a Blender scene by removing material for knurled M3 female–female posts and deepening a PCB slot so screw holes align, while bringing a suitable post model into the scene.

About this example

A starting brief based on the creator's public project, not a verbatim original prompt. Your result will vary.

Creator notes

Edit the existing Blender scene: subtract enough material for the knurled ends of the M3 female–female posts to sit flush, locate a suitable STL or STEP model of those posts and add it to the scene, then deepen the PCB slot by about 1 mm so the screw holes line up.

The prompt

Almost perfect. 1) see image in ~/Desktop/remove_material_for_knurled_ends.png -- we need to subtract enough material here for the knurled ends of the M3 female–female posts so that it can sit flush. See if you can find a model / STL or STEP of these posts with the knurled ends and bring it into the blender scene. 2) See ~/Desktop/deepen_pcb_slot.png the slot for the PCB is about 1 mm too shallow (ie I need to slide the PCB in about 1mm deeper into our part, so remove material) in order for the screw holes to line up.

How to use this prompt

01

Start with the right workspace

Open your preferred coding assistant or 3D tool. Use the model shown on the example as a starting point, and check any linked project for setup instructions.

02

Choose one thing to change

Swap the subject, art style or setting. Keep the camera and interaction clear. Build a small version first, then refine one detail at a time.

03

Give the scene its own assets

For a custom character or prop, create a 3D model from a short object description or reference image, then bring it into your project.
